Why Do My Feet Smell?

You may think that the reason some people have smelly feet is because they’re dirty or didn’t bathe properly. But that may not be true. Generally, the reason you have smelly feet is because of the bacteria that feeds on feet sweat. The source of the odor is isovaleric acid, the sweat-thriving bacteria that the feet produce.

Isovaleric acid creates a pungent smell. If you think this is an issue that you’re going to have for the rest of your life, there are some ways that will help you separate the cheese from your feet.

Since foot odor is caused by bacteria digesting sweat, two main ways that will help eliminate the problem are:

  • Decrease the amount of bacteria on your feet.

  • Decrease the amount of sweat that collects on your feet and in your shoes.

PRZ TIP:

Your feet have about 250,000 sweat glands. Your feet will produce more sweat per square inch than any other part of your body. If you have smelly feet, make sure you always wear socks with shoes. This will be a great aid in preventing the problem.
