TEXT DIRTY TO ME: SEXTING ETIQUETTE

Setting your phone on vibrate isn’t the only way you can use your cell to turn someone on. We’ve elevated ourselves from the postal system to the airwaves, and from voice to text. “Sexting” refers to both sexually explicit texts and the dirty pictures that occasionally accompany them. And while people tut-tut about teens doing it, there’s a growing percentage nationwide of adults getting into the action.

So we at PRZMAN put together some sexting etiquette, so you know what can get you lucky, and what can get you arrested.

1. Don’t sext anyone under the age of 18

If you pass a picture (or in some cases even receive it) of someone under the age of 18, you’re involved in the distribution and possession of child pornography. Not worth it. Ever.

2. Be graphic, just not in THAT way

In other words, don’t send a picture of yourself. Send a picture of the bed, rumpled sheets, condoms, the hotel room number, whatever inanimate object you’d like. But sending a picture of yourself opens the door to potential professional and personal embarrassment. Before you click, consider how sending that picture is making it public, and would you want that look on Facebook? If you don’t want the picture on your profile page, don’t send it.

3. Short is sweet

Sexting is suggestive, it’s supposed to get her face to flush and instigate dirty thoughts. If it needs an outline, you’ve written too much. On the other hand, make sure that what you text is understandable. Abbreviations work only when you both know what they stand for. Note: feel free to develop your own sext slang.

4. Timing, timing, timing

Sure, sexting when drunk is to be expected. But when it’s unexpected, the dirty text can have more effect. Try a morning message to make the daily commute more interesting. Or clue her in about your lunchtime cravings. You could even text your partner a link to an adult film from a website like https://www.sex-hd.xxx/ to let them know what you are in the mood for later.

5. Keep it to yourself

Locker room talk aside, the second you share a sext, you’re a sleaze. It’s just that simple.

Now that you know the sextiquette, have fun with it. You can be bolder via text than you would be in person, but don’t overdo it. After all, sexting is digital foreplay, but the best part is done in person.
