This might sound crazy, but think about a situation recently that pissed you off. Are you annoyed? Keep thinking about it until you get pissed. Next, look straight up at the sky, ceiling, or whatever is above you. As you’re looking up, start to smile obnoxiously big. You’ll notice that if you’re smiling, it’s impossible to feel mad.
A smile extends for miles. It can change the mood of your co-workers and friends, and it can help you get what you want in certain situations. Don’t you want to be known as that friendly guy who’s always smiling?
1. Fake it ‘til you make it
While we don’t ever suggest that you be anything but authentic, you can practice smiling even when you aren’t feeling your best. You can fool the brain into thinking you’re happy, so that it releases happy chemicals. Smile and feel good.
2. Project confidence
When you smile, you look more confident and self assured. People recognize when you project a positive outlook and assume that you’re a kind, open-minded person. In turn, your world will begin to open up.
3. Stay healthy
Smiling also helps reduce blood pressure. When you get in the habit of smiling more, you actually enhance your immune system, which allows it to work more efficiently. This will reduce your chances of getting sick.
4. Look younger
When you smile, you lift up your face and therefore you look younger. It’s been said that those who smile more every day live at least 10 years longer than those who don’t.
