SECRETS TO A SIX-PACK WITH MICHAEL WALTON

Today I’m going to reveal a few of my secrets to obtaining a flat stomach and/or six-pack abs. I am asked pretty frequently how I did it and my answer offers no shortcut. Plain and simple: it’s going to take hard work, discipline and a little patience. As an athlete who participates in a sport in which speed is essential, it is very important that I maintain a strong core (abdominal, back, pelvic region) in order to compete well. But it’s a misconception that you must be a world-class athlete or bodybuilder to have a six-pack or flat stomach. It just requires you to do some things that athletes all do. Let me share with you three things that will get you on your way.

1. Run baby, run!

You may not enjoy running, or any type of cardio activity for that matter, but it is crucial when it comes to obtaining a strong and flat abdominal region. Running helps by burning any unnecessary fat around the mid section. Aggressive runs over fairly long distances (1 – 3 miles) are great for this.

2. Get lean with it!

A lean and healthy diet gives you less to burn during your runs. If your diet isn’t up to par then you are working against yourself. My coach told me eight years ago to put down the cookies and cakes. I hated it, but I did it and now I no longer have a desire for those things in the least…well, maybe a little every now and again, but I never give in.

3. Do crunches in bunches!

You must do sit-ups, crunches, or other ab exercises on a consistent basis. My training requires me to do them daily and I would recommend the same for you if a six-pack is your goal. Although this phase is obviously important, there is a reason I placed it last on the list. Too often people think that they can obtain the results that they desire by doing this part alone. Good luck with that! I’m here to tell you that if you’re not on top of the first two, then you may indeed have a six-pack but it will be hidden under excess weight. You must be diligent in all three phases!
