How To Properly Rinse Shampoo

When I used to make products for kids, one of the biggest issues was cradle cap. This is basically a form of dermatitis; it causes patches on childrens’ scalps. One of the reasons this happens is because their shampoo hasn’t been rinsed out all the way.

  • Completely rinse your hair with lukewarm water until the water runs clear with no bubbles.

  • Important: If you don’t rinse completely, you’ll end up with a greasy film. Rinse for a good 30 seconds.

  • If you live in a warm environment, sweat a lot, or have an oily scalp, you may want to shampoo your hair twice in the shower. Only do this if you’re using a good pH-balanced shampoo that’s designed to meet the needs of your scalp.

  • Before you condition, make sure your shampoo is fully rinsed out. If not, this can cause allergic reactions or scalp issues down the road.

  • If your shampoo contains amazing, natural ingredients, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you. Make sure you’re using organic products so you don’t face long-term challenges.

PRZ TIP:

The most important thing to remember when rinsing is to allow 30-40 seconds as you’re working your hands through your hair for the product to rinse out. If not, you may end up with sebum. Sebum stands for sebaceous glands that are very tiny and create oil in a waxy matter. Sebum is what keeps the hair and skin moisturized but too much results in matted, oily hair.
