Hair Dos and Donts

  • If you can help it, use the least amount of chemicals on your hair as possible. Most hair-coloring treatments contain chemicals that are harmful to hair if not used properly.

  • If you use styling products, be sure to clean your scalp daily. It’ll gather residue and buildup if you don’t.

  • If you sweat, wash your scalp twice when taking a bath or shower. On days when you exercise, wash your head thoroughly to make sure there’s no oil or any other buildup.

  • Don’t wear hats, and if you do, make sure they aren’t super tight. Tight hats can pull your hair and irritate your scalp, especially on the front of your head.

  • Blow-dry in moderation. Too much blow-drying can burn hair and cause long-term damage. Make sure you’re using these hair-drying tips.

Watch your diet, as it’ll show up on your scalp. Make sure your diet is balanced. Sunflower seeds, oatmeal, and almonds contain certain vitamins and nutrients that regulate sebum production and help prevent an oily scalp.

For all of you body builders out there, avoid taking steroids. Research shows that steroid use can cause hair loss

PRZ TIP:

Hair’s main component is a protein called keratin. Water stretches and tires keratin molecules, so hair is more delicate when wet. To minimize damage, wash hair only when needed. Over-washing can dull hair by taking protective oils away. Ensure your routine is as gentle as possible by using warm water, massaging the scalp, and blotting hair dry with a towel.
