Acne occurs when pores get clogged with excess oil, dead skin or bacteria. Since skin is thicker and pores larger on your back, it’s easy for a pimple to form. Bacne can be painful, so if you’ve got a serious case of bacne, or if you had an issue with bad acne before, make an appointment with a dermatologist and get a prescription. However, if you’ve just realized your back is bumpier than before, chances are over-the-counter options will work for you.

Even though bacne forms in places that are hard to reach, there are plenty of ways to cleanse the skin and purify it of pimples. This means washing and exfoliating regularly. Be smart about the products you use, as scrubbing too hard, or cleansers with harsh chemicals can leave the skin raw and more open to irritation, causing your skin to be more inflamed.
