CONSCIOUS STEP SOCKS

Conscious Step was founded by three friends whose mission was to create change by taking the right steps. Each sock sold and worn supports a charitable effort. It’s like Tom’s but even closer to your foot. Step socks are made from the highest quality organic cotton and are fairtrade certified.

For the next four weeks our “sock head” enthusiast and friend of The Institute of Manhood, Morris Borenstein, has agreed to show off four styles of Conscious Step socks in an effort to tell the world about a great start-up with a conscience.

First up, a pair of the argyle from the Fight Hunger collection will give back six food packs to kids in Sub Saharan Africa, Cambodia and Pakistan though Conscious Step’s impact partner Action Against Hunger.

Morris, tell us why you like this sock?

The argyle colors here are a perfect combo. Pinks, blues and greys are very complimentary to each other and men’s shirts often come in white, blue, violet, or pink, so you’ll have easy options for pairing. The argyle is a classic, so it’s a safer look for any dress outfit. The fit is snug and probably goes 10 inches above the shoe, leaving you plenty of room to get your Michael Jackson high pants on.

And how are you wearing them?

I’m pairing these with a pink oxford slim fit shirt and dark blue pants. Don’t be afraid of patterns on the pants as long as it’s super subtle. I always go brown wingtip and brown belt and accessorize with a rosegold vintage watch.

So what you up to in these socks?

I’m wearing these socks to work. I have a big meeting and I like a classic sock for days like today.

Tell us, what are people saying?

My boss is also a huge sock head but argyles don’t fit his style. Argyles aren’t for everyone, but the color combination in my case makes up for the conservative look.
