BATHE LIKE A MAN

A pipe, a book of poetry, and a nice warm soak in the tub. No bubbles. No ducks allowed. But you can crack a cold brew if you wish. The following is a journey to relieve stiffness in the body, warm chilly winter bones, and find your inner Zen.

1. Tunes

This is where you set the mood. If you’re going for relaxation then we suggest you stay away from Bad Brains. Pandora offers a number of meditative playlists that will rock you in a sea of bliss.

2. Epsom Salts

Contain Magnesium, which regulates 325 enzymes in the body. As humans in the 21st century, we are likely deficient in Magnesium, resulting in Americans high rates of heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and Osteoporosis. An Epsom soak is a great way to boost Magnesium levels in the body and, if that wasn’t enough, Magnesium plays an important role in the formation of brain tissue. Epsom Salts are super cheap at your local corner store.

3. Green Tea

High in antioxidants, properties of the tea naturally relax and soothe muscles while you soak. You can put tea bags in the tub or use loose-leaf tea, but be careful because the tea will get into your system and give you a good buzz. Green tea also works to rejuvenate worn out skin.

4. Ginger

There are a number of warming ginger soaks for sale. They work well to relieve muscle tension. As an alternative you can chop up some fresh ginger and throw it in the tub while you soak.

5. Aroma Therapy

Experiment mixing in a few drops of 100% pure essential oils while drawing a warm bath. The essential oil is the ‘life force’ of the plant and contains healing properties for everything from improving with respiratory illness to helping with skin conditions. You can find these in the whole body section of Whole Foods. Discover a scent that you find healing or rejuvenating.

6. Scrub

Pick up a loofah or a towel with some scrubbing power. Korean markets often have these for the down low. You can use the towel with a sugar scrub to remove dead winter skin allowing the new soft skin to breathe.

7. Moisturize

Coconut oil is a miracle product. You can cook with it as well as rub it all over your body. In this case it will restore hydration to your skin after your soak.

8. Hydrate

Epsom baths can cause you to sweat and dehydrate the body without you even realizing. You can drink some coconut water to replenish electrolytes and get your system working right.

PRZ TIP: Fill the bath up halfway with warm water, soak until the water cools, and then fill the rest of the way with hot water. This will allow for ample soaking time giving you a chance to read or zone out to the music. Create a sacred space, meaning leave your phone and distractions in another part of the house.
