Thinning hair may be one of man’s biggest grooming nightmares. It’s terrifying to think that a once full head of hair will suddenly start shedding without any way of stopping it. Signs of thinning hair can show up as early as your 20s.

  • DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is a derivative of testosterone and it increases as men age. This can lead to hair loss because it blocks blood flow to the scalp and damages hair follicles, which prevents them from growing properly.

  • Fatty foods and red meats can affect your hormones, and in turn, can lead to increases in DHT production. Your diet, metabolism, vitamin deficiency, and how you take care of your body can be a big contributor to hair loss as well.

  • Caffeine dehydrates the skin and scalp, which leads to oil production. Too much oil on the scalp clogs hair follicles, which prevents them from growing properly.

  • If you have a thyroid problem or an imbalance in your hormones. Hair loss can also be caused from emotional issues or stress.
